Hey Everybody,
Have you ever seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding? Remember the Dad’s love of Windex? He uses it for EVERYTHING. Meet my Windex, Colloidal Silver. This week we’re talking about all the amazing benefits of Colloidal Silver.
By now you all know how I like to use a colloidal silver gel as my conductivity with microcurrent. But did you know it has tons of other uses? Let’s first talk about what the heck it actually is.
Colloidal Silver is a mineral solution of silver particles suspended in distilled water or a polymer.
Silver In History
Silver’s medicinal use can be seen as far back as the ancient Greek and Roman Empires. Greeks used silver vessels to keep liquids fresh. Romans stored wine in silver vessels. Chinese emperors and their courts ate with silver chopsticks. Pioneers, trekking across America, put silver dollars in their milk to keep it from spoiling. Silver leaf was put into wounds during WWI to fight off infection. Long before the advent of pharmaceuticals, silver was used as a germicide, antibiotic and natural preservative.
Silver Today
Today, silver is used in 70% of burn centers in America to heal burns and kill invasive burn bacteria, permitting wounds to heal. It’s used as a chlorine alternative to sanitize pools. The Swiss use silver filters in their homes and work places. It’s even used on airplanes to prevent the growth of algae and bacteria.
Okay that’s all well and good, but what about us? What about skin? How do you use colloidal silver at home?
I’m so glad you asked!
As I said before, colloidal silver can be suspended in distilled water or a polymer. This allows us to use it in a few different ways. I love the polymer, gel form, for topical use. It’s more soothing than aloe and less dehydrating. The liquid form can be taken internally, misted or pressed onto the skin.
Here are some of its benefits and uses:
-
Natural anti-biotic and anti-fungal - successfully used to treat both Candida and MRSA
-
Fights inflammation, both in and on the body
-
When infused in a nebulizer, it can be used to treat Bronchitis and Pneumonia
-
Treats sore throats - I can attest to its effectiveness
-
Can be dropped in the ear to soothe ear aches
-
Used as an eye flush, it's great for treating eye infections and stys
-
Heals cuts and burns - great for post sun exposure
-
Treats acne - heals open lesions and reduces both inflammation and bacteria
-
Treats Psoriasis
-
When taken internally, it promotes digestion and helps to minimize overgrowth of bacteria in the gut
-
Due to silver's conductivity, it’s great natural conductor for micro current!
-
Can be used as a natural hand sanitizer
-
Mist it all over you when flying for extra protection from that icky recycled air
And for all of these reasons, I think that Colloidal Silver is a fantastic addition to your skincare arsenal or medics cabinet!
But will it turn me blue?
Argyria, or bluing of the skin, is a very rare skin condition caused by consuming improperly made silver nitrate solutions containing too many silver particles that are too large, otherwise known as ionic silver. This can be exacerbated with sun exposure.
Colloidal silver is not the same as silver nitrate nor ionic silver. Colloidal silver is made up of tiny nano particles, essentially less concentrated than other forms, and ionic silver is made up of atoms. Silver nitrate is more of a chemical compound. It's used for cauterizing wounds and ulcerations.
So, no, consuming colloidal silver will not turn you blue!
While I use silver topically a few times a week, I only consume it as needed when I'm not feeling well. I use it as I would an antibiotic. Obviously if I'm severely ill, I'll always seek the advice of a physician and use antibiotics as recommended by said professional.
I'm an esthetician not a physician, homeopath or nutritionist. I treat skin. I've found, after years of personal use and results on clients, the use of colloidal silver to be incredibly effective at treating an array of different skin conditions. If using silver makes you uncomfortable, don't do it! If you're being treated by a doctor or have a medical condition, please talk to your doctor before using silver. Sound good?

Colloidal Earth is a UK based company. Their colloidal silver comes in amber glass bottles (which I love) to preserve the quality of the product. Each bottle is laboratory tested and WADA certified for quality assurance. Their colloidal silver is vegan friendly, gluten free, soy free and dairy free.
They make a liquid silver in two sizes, 500 or 200 ml, or a 50 ml spray option (all in glass). I think the spray is a great way to try out silver if you haven't before. You can easily mist anywhere needing a little healing and it makes for a great toner/treatment for inflamed skin!
They also make a Complete Colloidal Mineral Complex. It contains up to 72 naturally occurring trace minerals and elements from prehistoric plant deposits. I love adding this to the lemon water I drink every morning. This is the first stem in my skincare routine. Lemon is incredibly alkalizing and helps to balance the gut. Drinking a glass of water upon waking is a great way to rehydrate after 8 hours without liquids. The added complex helps to remineralize the body, improving cellular function. Since I started drinking this daily, my skin's been less dehydrated, my digestion has improved and I have more energy.
This week's video is sponsored by Colloidal Earth. They supplied my product and this discount code, in exchange for me making a video on colloidal silver. I think it's a pretty good trade.
